Another Year Gone By!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Ours was great! We are truely blessed! The Saturday before Christmas I had my family over at our house where we opended presents with my grandparents. On Christmas eve I grab a few more things for stocking stuffers and then later that evening we were all over at the Wife's parents house doing the Christmas Eve thing.

We had Christmas together on Christmas morning. We didn't do much between each other this year beacause:
1)We get what we want when we need it throughout the year.
2)If you remember, we spent about $4,000.00 for a new engine.

After our time together we headed to the Bride's parents house and then from there went to my parents house. We were back at home by 7:30pm.

This weekend we went to my other grandparents house and saw them since they do not make it up for Thanksgiving or Christmas. It was a great visit and I will post a few pictures of them when I get a chance.

It is crazy to think that Another Year has Gone By!

I can't say that I have ever been big on "New Year Resolutions!" All I know that I want to do this year is set a time aside EVERYDAY to grow my relationship with God. I allow the busyness of the day get in the way and then I am too tired to focus on Focusing of time with my Father.

When I spend time with God I feel the difference. Things DO seem to go easier and things do not bother me as much. This is already going to be a busy year and I know I can't do it on my own. I can't wait to see what God has in store for this new year!

Everyone have a safe and wonderful New Years Eve and New Years Day!

Until Next Year...2008

Leaves!

Our yard is covered in leaves. This past Saturday I found the driveway. Almost forgot that we had one. Had to uncover it though so we wouldn't back into the ditch.

This time last year the bride and I raked up about 50-60 bags of leaves. The size of each bag was 55 gallons. (now do you feel the blisters on your hands?) A few times already this current year I have taken the leaf blower and blew one side of the yard to the fence and then raked up into bags.

I ran into a neighbor yesterday and I asked him if he had a riding lawn-mower with a bagging system and if so could I use it. He does and he said yes. Praise God! So, after Christmas I am going to suck-up the leaves. I can already tell this is going to go alot faster than last year. Having good neighbors is GREAT!!! Now if that one Oak tree, out of five, will finish dropping its leaves I can get it all done at once.

This has been a blog post from Bomba Days for your reading pleasure!

The stockings were hung on the Armore with care...

In hopes that St. Nick would soon be there!

Oh how time flies! If you ask me, this year has been one of the fastest.

As I sit and type this I think about all that has happened this past year. Things I worried about, things that I was glad happened, things I was sad that happened, and things that never happened. The conclusion that I have come up with is, "It really does NO GOOD to worry about tomorrow." Imagine that, God's word really does speak Truth!

As you hussle and bussle remember the true meaning of Christmas!!! The birth of Jesus Christ!

F.Y.I.

After reading the comments about the post about the "Peacock" story, I need to clear something up:

This was not my dad nor anyone I knew. It was an email "joke" that someone sent to me that I thought was FUNNY!!! Which it is!

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I will always remember in the future to besure that if it is a joke that I mention that.

True or Not, it is Neat!!!

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me.
What in the world do leaping lords, French hens,
swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out
of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

Today, I found out.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were
not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone
during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics.
It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning
plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Each
element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality
which the children could remember.

-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.

-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.

-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.

-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.

-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.

-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.

-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching,
Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.

-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.

-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness,
Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control.

-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.

-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.

-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol...so pass it on if you wish."

Merry (Twelve Days of) Christmas Everyone!

I don't really know if this is true, but either way it is really neat!

Too Funny...I had to share!

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes. We decided to grab a bite at the food court.
I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange and blue.
My dad kept staring at him. The teenager would look and find him staring every time. When the teenager had enough, he sarcastically asked,
"What's the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?" Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I
would not choke on his answer, knowing he would have a good one. And in classic style he didn't bat an eye with his response: "Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son."

Pecans and Candy

Every year our Boss purchases pecans and candy to mail to customers and to give to the employees. The other day I boxed and mailed a total of 200 pecans and 42 boxes of candy. This Friday the Employees will start receiving theirs.

Where to start?

0) To start, we only have 13 days until Christmas!!!
1) The Christmas Parade went very good and we had about 60+ people in the parade.(floats, cars, etc.)
2) We have not finished our shopping and we keep putting it off; or just don't find time to do it!
3) I am working my fingers to the bone and lacking sleep!
4) Believe it or not, I am about "Christmas Partied" out and we still have a couple more to attend.
5) I am now officially, as of yesterday, the Chamber of Commerce President. I am looking forward to a great year coming up.
6) Gas prices are making me sick everytime I look at the signs and have to fill up. The news says that "Consumers control the price so if we stop driving as much we would see the prices come down." WRONG!!! We can't stop driving as much. We, the bride and I, are not driving anymore than we normally do. What "the people" don't know or understand is that people are cutting back everywhere else in their budget because of the high prices!
7) This weather is crazy! I should have been in shorts these past few days but starting tomorrow it will start getting cold again.

Quote

I read the below Quote the other day and then ran across it on the computer a few days later. I can't explain exactly how it makes me feel but I am sure after you read it you will feel something too.

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

Thanksgiving!

We had a lot to be thankful for this year, as every year. I always try to keep myself reminded of just how blessed we are.

Spending time with the familes was great. Thursday we went to Marion, AL to the brides side of the family. I will check with the bride to see if she took any pictures so I can post them.

Friday morning packed up the car to head to my parents house for the weekend. We stopped by Kohl's along the way and did some CHRISTmas shopping. We almost finished it all there.

The weekend with my side of the family was great as well. We did some more shopping, eating, watching the football game, where we sadly watchrd Bama LOSE...AGAIN!!!

Sunday morning we went to the church that I grew up in and then headed home and rested for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

Pictures of outside

Before I left for work this morning I took a few pictures of outside. I love the Red Japanese Maple tree. (it gets ready for Christmas as well).

The house picture it not very clear. The fog is SO thick this morning.

'O Christmas Tree 'O Christmas Tree

The colors are Turquoise, Brown and Gold...

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas...

At the Snyder house anyways!

We put up our Christmas tree yesterday after church and hung the wreath on the door and the garland around the columns on the porch. I do not think I am going to do the icicle lights because it is a lot of work and I just do not feel like hanging from a ladder this year.

The tree looks great. I will try and post some pictures of it before Wednesday of this week; because after Wednesday...I AM OFF!!!...until Monday Nov. 26th.

Saturday we went to the Alabama Football game...and that is ALL I am going to say about that, except I am glad that the tickets we got were FREE because it would have been a shame to pay for that game!

Don't Forget...3 Days until TURKEY DAY and 36 Days until CHRISTMAS!!!Hey, I'm just letting you know!

My 2 cents worth!!!

I have to say that I am glad that I do not live in the city of Birmingham, AL.

Larry Langford was just recently voted for the Mayor seat starting next year. Monday night they had his inauguration(to induct into office with formal ceremonies) dinner for him to speak about what he wants to see happen in B'ham.

Lanfords biggest thing before he was inducted into office was getting a Dome Stadium to Birmingham and that is almost all he has spoken about since he won.

Well, it seems like B'ham is going to get a Dome Stadium, for a team we DO NOT HAVE, and if you don't like it, then stay home while everyone else is going to the Dome Stadium; again to see the NFL or some other kind of huge team that we do not have. Birmingham can't even keep the Steel Dogs or any other kind of team that we have tried in the past.

Birmingham has the fastest growing crime rate in Alabama and exceeds their previous rate every year. HOW TERRIBLE! People are going to support a "stupid" idea of building a Dome when the money that they are going to use could be used to "clean up the streets" of crime. Go door to door in the crime areas and start busting the crack houses, gangs, etc.

But, I have a better idea; Let's build a Dome in a part of the city that crime takes place and let us go to functions that take place there and risk getting mugged or something of the sort. Smart, very smart Langford!

This is not a, "If you build it they will come." We need to already have a reason for it. Alabama is a College Football State. Though there are people who like the NFL, etc. we have no need for this Dome.

Okay, I'm done! That was my 2 cents worth! Did I mention that I am glad that I do not live in the City of Birmingham.

God is THAT Good!!!

I will try and make this short but it is great. Here it is:

Every Wednesday night on the way to church I pick up 2 boys that are in the youth group. Sometimes one comes, sometimes both. They are brothers so I never know until one gets in and says the other is not coming.

Anyways I picked one up last night and when I was taking him home after church he got to telling me that he and Geno, the youth pastor, were talking about his mom and praying for her. (the two brothers live with their grandmother and their parents are separated so and on top of that they hardly see either one of their parents.) One brother is 15 the other is 13. (the 13 year old was with me last night). I told him that always remember that God does hear your prayers and he will answer them.

Their mom is going through some stuff now and he was missing her and you could tell that it was effecting him. As we were driving down hwy. 31 he looks over at this car we are passing and it is his mother driving the car. He got SO excited. I blew the horn until we got her attention and then we pulled over behind her. He got out and talked to her for a minute or two and then got back in and she followed us to his grandmothers. I wish you could have seen his face; the way it was lite-up with Joy.

It was all I could do to keep from crying. All I could say while I was driving away was Praise God! You are Awesome God!

Why am I telling you this??? Because:

1) I called Geno, the youth pastor, when I was driving away to tell him and he coudn't beleive it and said that it was exactly what he needed at that moment. He needed to see his mom and God answered a 13yr. old boys prayer.

2) The pastor taught from Psalm 105 last night and it spoke about giving Thanks and telling about God's Wonderous Works...and this is WONDEROUS!!!

3) That you will be reminded that God is hearing EVERYTHING you are praying to Him.

HA!

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam on I65 going into Downtown
Birmingham. Nothing is moving north or south. Suddenly
a man knocks on his window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What
happened, what's the hold up?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped Hillary Clinton, Rosie
O'Donnell, Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharp ton. T hey are
asking for a $10 million ransom. Otherwise they are
going to douse them with gasoline and set them on
fire. So we are going from car to car, taking up a
collection."

The driver asks, "On average, how much is everyone giving?"

"About a gallon of gas"

I don't care who you are...That's funny and you know it!!!

About the Halloween Party...

I forgot to mention that it was a contest as well for the best dressed and I won. My prize was $50.00!!!

Update

Yesterday I meet with the other lady that was interested in house cleaning. After viewing her house and talking with her I have decided that I will be cleaning her house. (only twice a month though). Twice a month is all she wanted and is all I needed to want.

The extra work is not going to kill me and the days are flexiable if they need to be.

Another Job Offer

Okay, so the lady that I started cleaning for this past Tuesday emails me today and asks me if I am willing take on another cleaning job. It is someone she knows that I have meet a few times.

The only other evening I know I could do it would be on Monday nights. Should I take it or not? That is the question?

Weekend

The weekend is here. I can remember being in school and longing for the weekend to get here. There are still some work-weeks that I long for the weekend to get here, but not as much any more. Though I am only 28 years old I can tell that time is flying by so quickly! My calendar stays booked with so many things that have to happen each month.

Last night I had dinner with my New York friend, but not before the Explorer ALMOST left me stranded...AGAIN! I had stopped by a store and when I got back in the truck and tried to crank it, it almost didn't turn over. So on the way to dinner I stopped by Auto Zone and had them check the battery and it registered as "Bad Battery." So I had them put in a new one and then I was back on the road. "Have I mentioned before that I am tired of things with vehicles!"

Tomorrow I am going for a bike ride. Then tomorrow night the wife and I are meeting some friends for dinner, then after that it is off to a Halloween Party. The party is at our local Coffee Shop. I know the people that run the shop and they said even if I am late that I BETTER show up. And just incase you are wondering, I am dressing up for the party and NO, I am not telling you what I am going to dress up as. I will have pictures to post next week.

I am hoping for Sunday to be a Lazy Day around the house after church. I need to get outside and rake the leaves, etc.

This has been news in the exciting life of Bomba Days...Now You Know!!!

Law

They should make it a Law that you CAN NOT put Christmas stuff out in stores or show commercials about Christmas until Novemeber 1st.

I do now know if you have noticed it on commercials but a new thing I have seen this year is while they are showing a product to sale they are not mentioning it for a Christmas gift at all, they do however have a red bow on it. (hint, hint)

Winter?

-Now, Fall is my favorite time of the year. This morning it seems Winter has arrived. The next few mornings/days shows the same. What is up with that? I wanted the high of 70 for a few weeks at most. Now Saturday is suppose to be 72. I am going for a bike ride and that is PERFECT weather.

-Last night was my first night on my second job. (house cleaning). It is a BIG house (3 floors to be exact) There is alot to do and it will take a few times until I find "my groove" at how fast or slow certain things will take. It is also just on Tuesdays from 4-8pm. The lady I am cleaning for was very impressed at my job performance so that is good.

-Can you believe that it is already the 24th of October!!!

Budget

That word really SUCKS!!! BUT...It is a word we ALL have to know the meaning of. That would include the definition and how to apply the definition to our lives.

It is said that is is best to have atleast 3 to 6 months worth of income in savings that you do not need to rely on. (i.e. can not use as your emergency fund). (I wish I did have 3to6 months worth of income sitting around...other than my 401K. But when things like a tree falling on your shed and your engine going out, it sort of makes that 3to6 months thing a "LOT" hard to achieve.

The wife and I attended the Dave Ramsey course a while back that teaches about budgeting. We have applied the principles to our lives but it still seems that some weeks are tighter than others. We do not just "throw our money to the wind." They are applied to tithing, bills, groceries, etc. VERY LITTLE goes to eating out, etc. Though we do eat out, we do it conservingly.

Yes, I want to accomplish the 3to6 months worth of income and set it aside in a savings account drawing about 5% interest.(or more of course). Heck, right now I want to achieve the $1,000.00 emergency fund again. (the engine took care of this)

Through our day to day though, the Lord ALWAYS provides. I started reading the book of Job this morning in the Bible. Now I have read this before but am reading it again and taking it slower. God allowed Satan to attack Job and so far, up to chapter 3, Job has not cursed God once and has not fell into sin because of all God has allowed to happen to him.

In Chapter 3, Job did start to get angry and curse the day he was born, etc., but he did not curse God. The word says that is is okay to get angry. But in your anger, DO NOT Sin!

Well, I can't say that I have been as strong as Job in the past but Lord I pray that you make me more and more like your servent Job. That when adversity comes that I will always be quick to give you the praise and that I will know that you are watching over me and that you have me and my familes best interest in mind.

Even though I have not finished reading the book of Job I do know that God restored EVERY back to Job...PLUS SOME! WHY???...Because Job never doubted God and never fell into Sin while going through all the tragedies that he went through.

May we all have the "Heart of Job" when we are going through things. We will "Reap a Harvest" if we do not give up!

Time of year!

We have been SUPER BUSY here in the spice world. Which reminds me, "Nicole, how did your meatloaf turn out with the seasoning?" 'Tis the Seasonings!"

I was reading Nicole's blog where she said she had gotten another job. It must be that "time of year." I am doing the same thing. Next Tuesday afternoon and all the future Tuesday afternoons I will start cleaning a ladies house that I know for the extra income. Any bit helps and especially during this time of year where EVERYTHING seems to get a little more expensive or the money just seems to go a little faster because of the extra things you are having to buy during these months. (i.e. presents, food for all the meals, sweets, etc.)

Speaking of making extra money; I emailed the payutoblog website again. I am waiting! Jamie said it was two weeks before she got a reply so maybe there is hope? And Jamie, how did the email read when it was sent to the Spam box? (just so I can keep a look out!)

Tune in next time...

9 Things People do and say that are dumb...Is this you?:

1. People who point at their wrist while asking for the time... I know where my watch is pal, where the heck is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2. People who are willing to get off their butt to search the entire room for the T.V. remote because they refuse to walk to the T.V. and change the channel manually.

3. When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Darn right! What good is cake if you can't eat it?

4. When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the heck would you keep looking after you've found it?

5. When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No, loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the friggin floor.

6. People who ask "Can I ask you a question?"... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?

7. When something is "new and improved!". Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it, couldn't be new.

8. When people say "life is short". What the? Life is the longest thing anyone ever does! What can you do that's longer?

9. When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, idiot?

Rejected

I REALLY feel rejected. My friend Jamie told me about "getting paid to blog." She gave me the address and I went to it, filled out my information and it said that I would hear something within two business days, via email, if I was accepted. I think it has now been 5 days and NOTHING. Really makes you feel rejected!!! Unless the email they sent went to "Spam" I didn't get one. Come On! I can't even get a job posting about stuff and trying to get people to visit websites.

I am going to try again and see what happens.

Now this is Fall

The cool weather this morning is my favorite and I am so glad that these days are here to stay for a few weeks. (according to the weather channel). For those who did not know, Fall is my favorite time of the year.

What has been happening?:

Friday afternoon we got the Explorer back. Everything seems to be fine. I am of course listening for ANY and EVERYTHING.

Friday night the wife and I went out to dinner with some friends. Saturday morning Nicole, a blogger buddy, stopped by and got some seasoning from me. Which reminds me, Nicole, besure and let me know when you use some of them and how you like them. I did some yard work, burned my hand on the muffler of the lawnmower; not a good thing and especially not something that felt good. The hand is healing fine and I learned my leason.

Saturday evening the wife and I along with the mother-in-law went to her Aunt's birthday dinner.

Sunday was church and then home. I relaxed a little and then grilled some pork chops and then the bride and I went for a walk; something we haven't done in forever because we both stay so busy. Actually, this weekend was the most we have spent together in a while.

While we were walking we passed a house that had been foreclosed on. We both thought about how great it would be to be able to purchase the home, remodel it a little and then sale it for profit. You know, "Flip That House!" I think I am going to look into that.

Since Monday it has been work as usual.

Thanks for tuning in...

Birthday!

Today is my Wife's birthday. She is 27. Her present from me was a mini-fridge that will fit under her desk at work where she can keep some snacks that need to stay cold and her favorite drink...Dr. Pepper! (this was something she requested)

She was excited about it. I purchased it last week and I guess she thought she wasn't getting anything since the incident with the vehicle (see below)...Grrrrrr!!!

Happy Birthday to my Wife...

Also, since it is her birthday I of course went and picked her up a bday card. While looking at the cards I saw this "NEW HOLIDAY" and new cards they have come up with. It is called "Sweetest Day!".(it is sometime this month) WHAT THE CRAP! Now, the card companies make enough money from stupid holidays. Isn't valentines day enough?

I did purchase one of those cards but I made it a brithday card instead. On the outside of the card it read..."I know a good thing when I see it"...You open it and it reads..."So, Can I See It?" (I will let you use your own imagination!)

Things...

The Explorer is still at the Shop. I called them yesterday and told them to go ahead and start replacing the engine. And about the money, all I know is that it will be there when I have to pay for it.

Since the cost of the job is over $250.00, they pay for you to have a rental car. The vehicle that I am now driving is a....2008 Chevy Silverado crewcab. This sucker is HUGH! I like my Explorer and would rather not have to drive the Silverado because it only reminds me of the amount of money that is going to have to be paid on the Explorer, but I am enjoying driving the Silverado and more than likely it will be hard to give up come Friday.

I haven't decided if we will try and sale the Explorer when it gets fixed or keep it? I think I am going to take it Saturday and look at a few other vehicles and see if I can find a good deal. We will see!

My Bride's 27th Bday is tomorrow! Other than me knowing the date, it is an easy date to remember. 10/4...like what you say over a hand radio when you are confirming that you heard what the other person said. (10/4 Big Buddy!)

I have been busy all week. After work Monday I had a 5pm meeting, then a 6pm meeting. Yesterday I had a 4pm meeting and today I have a 4pm meeting. Tomorrow I have a 6pm meeting and then Friday I actually DO NOT have a meeting but we are going to dinner with one of my co-workers and her husband.

The meetings that I have been having deal with the Chamber, except the one today. Did I mention that I am President Elect for the Chamber next year? I know! I do not think they know what they are asking for!

No pictures of cute little babies to post or animals...We do not have any! Why you ask?:

a) We do not want any now!
b) We do not see each other enough to do "that" thing that "makes" babies!!! and
c) My wife is going to kill me when she reads this and then it will not even be an option.

Until again...If she lets me live!!!

Was yesterday Monday?

I heard on the news this morning that there is 80 something days until....you know what...I DON'T want to say it!!! But there is ONLY 80 something days until that day.

Yesterday was a crazy day and a day I wish could start all over and be changed.

This month marks one year ago when we purchased the Explorer that we own. It is an '04 and we bought it from a used car lot from someone that I would still go back to and purchase another vehicle. Anyways, I got in it yesterday morning to leave for work, backed out of the driveway, got ALMOST to the stop sign at the end of my street and I heard this noise. I looked in my rearview mirror thinking there is a car behind me making alot of noise but I didn't see anything. When I pushed the gas peddle the truck started shaking and making a louder noise...then it QUIT!!!

Once it quit it didn't start again. NO IDEA what it was??? I called a tow truck, called work and told them I would be late, etc. etc. etc.

After a few hours of waiting I got the call from the mechanic and the verdict is...A NEW ENGINE!!! I KNOW!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!!! He said that the current engine "dropped a valve" and of course when it dropped a valve it went tearing through the engine and messed everything else up...hence the load noise and vibration I felt.

I asked him could this have been prevented or was something missed? He said no. These things happen. He has even seen new ones come in that dropped a valve that only had a few thousand miles on them. (other machanic's also confirmed this). (doesn't make one feel any better though!).

Needles to say that the truck is still sitting at the mechanic. He told me the price, labor, parts and all and I of course wanted to cry. Do you want to know??? You will cry with me if you found out!!! We still owe on the vehicle and of course I told them I would consider trading it in if they would give me payoff for it I would just sell it to them and we would find something else. I will find out this morning about that. But after MUCH prayer and MUCH pondering I think I will just let them put another engine in there and we will keep it or try to sell it ourselves with the new engine in it.

The one that they will put in there comes out of an '07 explorer and it only has 2,600 miles on it. Then they are going to give a 12,000 or 12 month warrenty on that engine. I have searched around and the price they are charging for everything is VERY reasonable. Oh, and the price...$4,100.00....but....because we take our cars there for service as well as everyone I work with, they are going to only charge me $3,600.00/plus tax.

As I talked to my Bride last night I told her that "LOVE IS ALL WE NEED!!!" Basicly because that is ALL we have right now. HA!

All day yesterday I can honestly say that I have not been worried about the way God is going to take care of this. I have hated dealing with the headach of it all and I really CANNOT stand car problems because they can become PRICY and they are such a headache to deal with. Our Father owns the "cattle on a thousand hills" and he can have them all sold and the engine paid for.

Thank you Father that You know the plans you have for me!!! Thank you that you are going to provide everything that we need for all of our days to come!

There you go blogger world...This was my Monday and this is why I would have liked for it to start all over again and turn out differently!!!

This is the picture of the two pots that I purchased. I placed them beside the bench and am still working on that side of the yard. I have a few ideas so I am trying to figure out which one I want to go with.

I like it the way it is for now. The bench is under the big oak tree to the left of the house and a few feet from the patio.

Patio

This is the picture of the furniture on the patio that was poured. I have some cushions that go on them. I didn't have time to put them on because I took the picture this morning leaving for work.

The furniture was white but I spray painted it a chocolate color. It looks really good in person and with the cushions on them.

Peace...

There is a peace that surpasses ALL understanding...Have YOU found that peace?

Wednesday, September 26, 2007

I copied the following from my Mother's blog. I thought it was good and wanted to share:

THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE UNASHAMED

I am a part of the Fellowship of the Unashamed.

I have the Holy Spirit Power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made.

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.

I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tame visions, mundane talking, chintzy giving, and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded.

I now live by presence, learn by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power.

My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my Guide is reliable, my mission is clear.

I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred, lured away, turned back, diluted, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.

I won't give up, back up, let up, or shut up until I've preached up, prayed up, paid up, stored up, and stayed up for the cause of Christ.

I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go until He returns, give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes.

And when He comes to get His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My colors will be clear for "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.." (Romans 1:16)

What have I been up to?

As always things are going busy.

Chuch has been going really great. We have a full band now and a drummer that plays electric drums. They really are AWESOME!...and he is a great player.

God has been really showing me some things lately and has really been changing me. It's not always easy but it is for the better of course.

My birthday was September 19th. I am 28 years old now. I celebrated by going out to a few places to eat with different friends starting on Tuesday of last week and ended with buying me my birthday present yesterday with the money I received for my birthday. I went and bought two planters from a place in Thorsby. They are very nice and solid concrete, stained a rustic brown color. I have been working on the left side of my yard. It is coming together very nicely. Since we got the second driveway poured and a patio area, I wanted to really do something to that side. A little bit at a time. If you live close by you should come and see it. I should get some mums planted in the pots today so I will take a picture and post on the blog.

There was a wedding at the church this weekend so I spent Friday evening and Saturday there to besure everything ran smoothly. (F.Y.I...I am the wedding coordinator for the church and Jennifer helps me when she does not have volleyball...which is never....but I love her anyway!!!)It was a nice wedding and everything did run smoothly. Then I set the stage back up for Sunday and headed home.

The Calera Chamber of Commerce has really been keeping me busy. We have alot going on during these next few months so I will continue to stay busy. But "busy" is my middle name and I really wouldn't know what to do if I didn't stay busy.

If you live in the area and would like to volunteer your time for the Policeman/Fireman Appreciation Picnic that is coming up in October please contact me. It is for the families of the Calera police and fire ONLY but if you volunteer "you" will of course be able to eat the BBQ served, etc.

The Calera Christmas parade will be Dec. 1st. We also need volunteers for that. I know a couple of people helped with me last year and I hope you will be able to help again. Contact me if so. As a Chamber member the Christmas parade is one of the funtions that is my responsibility.

Our busy season at work is picking up. Alot of people use Seasoning during this Season and that is what we do best. So if I do not post as much that is why. When I leave here I do not normally get on the computer at home; 8 hours a day is enough for me.

Monday!!!

Where did the weekend go???

My "new" Cousin

Zemirah Genevieve

Friday

I think I really like this "4 day" work week. Having Mondays off period is a good thing.

I'm hoping the weather will start cooling off some. I can't stand the heat much longer. I like it where the high is 75 and the low is 65...everyday!!!

This past weekend I got up Saturday morning to go for a bike ride. I walked out on the deck with my cup of coffee and there was a tree that had fallen in the back yard. A BIG tree. When it fell it crushed our storage shed. (I would have posted pictures but the wife had left the camera at school and I wasn't going to wait until she was able to get it and then clean up.) There is still some of the tree in the wooded part of the property but it will get all cleaned up in due time. As the saying goes, "You can't eat an elephant in a day."

I went bike riding after I went and purchased a new shed and after the ride I spent the rest of the day sawing away and dragging to the street.

An Update about riding: I will not be doing the MS ride in Memphis next weekend. The group I was going with changed to the ride taking place in Orange beach at the end of this month and I can't make that one. Along with short notice it is the end of the month and quarter here at work so I know it can't happen. Maybe next time.

I am going to do a 65 mile ride in the morning. We are meeting at 5:30am and then be on the road by 6am. I know, I know...CRAZY!!!!!!!! I do wonder why I do it at times while I am riding but afterwards it is all worth it and it helps me sleep good. (basicly because I am wore-out)

That's about it for now. It is 12:05 this friday afternoon. I am thinking about leaving work early....Hum???? Maybe by 1:30. I would like to cut the grass today and do some things outside and not wait until after I get off to do it.

Until again...

Monday Funny!!!

A man and his ever-nagging wife went on vacation to
Jerusalem. While they were there, the wife passed away. The undertaker
told the husband, "You can have her shipped home for $5,000, or you can
bury her here, in the Holy Land, for $150." The man thought about it
and told him he would just have her shipped home.

The undertaker asked, "Why would you spend $5,000 to
ship your wife home, when it would be wonderful to be buried here and
you would spend only $150?"

The man replied, "Long ago a man died here, was buried
here, and three days later he rose from the dead. I just can't take

Vision...

The bible says that, "Without vision the people perish."

This week T.D. Jakes has been speaking on "VISION: I Can See Clearly Now!" Today was the same and he spoke about having Faith with the Vision.

I love the way God knows what you need to hear when you need to hear it. Jakes continued to talk about having a vision statement for yourself and your business.
I started on one today for our home.

The bible also says that, "For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord..." Though he knows the plans, we should each have a "vision plan" for ourselves, familes, business, etc. As long as we are seeking and serving him he will reveal the way for us. As long as we are walking in the light and not darkness he will show us the path to take. Very rare will we receive the "audible" voice of God but it is the peace that we have about what we are asking.

What is your Vision statement...

I am sad!!!

Paula White & Randy White to Divorce:

From tbo.com:

The announcement: Randy called Paula to the podium about an hour into the service. He was somber; Paula appeared choked up. "It's the most difficult decision I've ever had to make in my entire life," he told the congregation, describing Paula as an exceptional woman, mother and preacher.

(His career and her career and the different directions they are going is said to be the main reason why they are divorcing.)

From my mouth:

This hurts to hear really bad. I know that just because they are pastors and in the public eyes does not mean that they are above "life" effecting them.

I am not behind the walls of their house and cannot say what has taken place in their private lives but if the "ONLY" reason is because of their Career's then that just is not a good enough reason for a divorce.

The man and woman having too different career's sums up probably about 90% of all married men and women. I will testify that my wife and I stay very busy with opposite things and there are times where I see her more one week than the next and we have to make time for each other.

The example that Randy and Paula is giving right now says to me that, "It is okay to divorce when two people are so busy with their career's and do not have time for each other and feel that it is better to divorce than carry on." (this is only what I am seeing). I know, WITHOUT a shadow of a doubt, that God DID NOT say, "okay, go ahead and divorce."

I am not intending for this to come across as judging them. I am not doing that in the least. I hurt for them. I hurt for people who, like myself, have listened, watched, and learned from them. I hurt for people who are going to be effected personally by this and who already has been effected. I hurt for the husbands and wive's who again, like most of us americans, have a marriage and two different career's, that are going to say, "If Randy and Paula can end their marriage then it must be okay for us to do it."

I know they have been in counseling and have been working on this it just still hurts...

God, be with that church and all people that know your two children.

Baby Sophia and the brothers!!!

After work yesterday I went to visit the Boemer's. If you remember on previous posts they had a little girl named Ava Sophia. While I was there yesterday I got to hold her for about an hour before she had to be feed. Of course she was asleep but she finally opened her eyes and looked at me. She is SO cute and SO small. I can't believe I was that small when I was born. I think I only weighed 3 more ounces than she did.

After holding her I played with Tres and Bryant...aka "The Brothers." They are growing fast! Bryant looked like a young man and Tres is doing a great job at playing the Big Brother to both of them.

It was good to visit with them and also see Grandmother Betty, who by the way cooked one MEAN meal last night. I took some home for the Bride but she was at a volleyball game and didn't eat it for dinner so I will be having it for lunch today...YUMMY!!!

The weekend has come upon us and I will be busy all day tomorrow and will maybe get some rest Sunday afternoon.

I forgot to tell you that we got our second driveway poured this past Tuesday. Today we will finally be able to drive on it. We have had one driveway but one of us would always have to park the other vehicle in the grass beside that one so we both could get out without having to move cars around. When they poured the driveway I also had them make me a small patio beside the deck so we could set up some chairs for another place to sit. Sort of bringing the indoors...out...It looks really good and though it may sound crazy I can't wait to drive on it this afternoon. And just for reference, if you plan on having concret poured it AIN'T cheap!!!

Quick Peek Weekend!!!

Went to football scrimmage after work for a few hours with the wife at her school.

Was woken up by bride at 12:30am Saturday morning alarming me to the fact that there were fire trucks and police in the road at the house across the street from us.

Back in bed by 12:50 but laid awake until 2:00.

Up again at 5:15am to go bike riding...when all was said and done I got 53 miles in. (total time it took 3 hrs. 40min.)

Came home worked in the yard some and enjoyed sitting on the couch to, not one but TWO thunderstorms, that passed through during the afternoon and evening.

Sunday went to church, got home and ate lunch, worked in the yard, went for another bike ride at 5:30...when all was said and done I got 33 miles in. (total time it took 2 hrs. 6min.)

Back home after the ride, showered and went to bed...THE END!!!

What day is it?

I was just sitting here thinking that it was Monday. Why I do not know because I had a chamber luncheon today and we only have those on tuesday. I guess it was a brain cramp or brain fart...whichever you prefer.

This weekend was busy. From the pictures below you can tell that we saw babies.

The wedding at the church went great despite all that happened starting friday night. A storm moved through the area and lighting hit the building and took out some of the lights and sound system. The church is on a 3 phase system so we had some lights. By Saturday morning the power company had come out and everything was back on but lighting did take out the amp that feeds sound threw the sanctuary and took out the computer that controls the power power. Those will have to be replaced but we did have a backup sound system that worked just the same.

Now that I have established that today is Tuesday and NOT Monday, I have lots to do this afternoon. Hopefully after today my week will slow down some but then again, I like it busy...it keeps me out of trouble.

Also, a note about the bike ride in Memphis, TN. I am not doing that one anymore. I am going to do the one at Orange Beach to Pensecola...I think that is where it ends? It is still for the same cause it's just that my friend who is in the group that I am riding with cannot make it to the Memphis one now and I do not want to go without him because he is the one who got me into biking.

On my Mind

For the past few weeks I have had a lot on my mind. It hasn't been the normal day to day stuff either. They are things that I am pondering and praying about. I will clarify that I am not worrying about these things because I know that I serve a God that knows my needs and answers them accordingly. He is working on me!

There is an old sunday school song that comes to my mind:

He's still working on me
To make me what I ought to be
It took him just a week to make
The moon and the stars
The sun and the earth and
Jupiter and Mars
What a loving creator he must be
He's still working on me

Too Hot to Handle

It has been SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT!!! I step outside from work to go to the car and can't seem to catch my breath. After I get out of the car, where the air was on, I can't catch my breath. This HEAT is CRAZY!!! Lord, send wind and rain!

What has been up with us? Alot and not much at all...

The wife is still at volleyball with full force and school starts back Thursday for her school so she is excited.

The air in the truck is acting up so we have it at the shop. Which reminds me, "Thank you Lord for the blessing of having two vehicles!" You never know how much you use both of them until one is out of use. Hopefully we will have it back by tomorrow. My brother in law works at the ford delearship so he is checking and working on it.

I almost have all of my money raised for my MS Bike ride in Memphis, TN next month.(see post below) Of course I am still going to have to get alot more riding in before then.

My sister-in-law had her baby last Thursday. They had a little girl. They have one boy already so this makes two.

Our friends Hank & Jamie are about to have their little girl. I know they are excited as well as the brothers-to-be are waiting for their little sister. We are happy for them too! Remember to call us!!!

Since the wedding month has passed in June we have had babies and birthdays. Always something and it just shows you how fast time is going by.

Life in the FAST Lane

Can you believe that it is already August 1st, 2007?! The year is going by so fast!

The bride started her 1st day of School today. It was just "Teachers In-Service." They had meetings, etc. to get taken care of before the children start back on the 9th. Again, I am really proud of her.

For those of you who didn't know, I have a street bicycle; the one with the skinny wheels. Lately I have really gotten into riding more. It is a great form of exercise. This is good for me because I like food and food likes me so I have to do something to keep me in shape and keep my pants waist size to a 32. There is a group that meets every Saturday morning about 10 minutes from my house. We meet and ride between 30-40 miles around a couple of towns. I enjoy it alot. I like riding with others because it keeps me motivated.

I will have to pick up a few more days in the evenings to get some riding in because I am doing a Team Ride in Tennessee in September for Multiple Sclerosis. Follow the link below to read more about it.

http://biketns.nationalmssociety.org/site/PageServer?pagename=BIKE_TNS_Details

I am looking forward to it. It is a total of 150 miles. 2 days, 75 miles each day. This is why I am having to put in alot more riding time so I will be ready.

On another note: My bride and I are the "Wedding Coordinators" for our Church. And yes, believe it or not, I can coordinate a wedding. When someone wants to use our church to get married we, or atleast one of us, has to be there and oversee all that takes place as well as run the sound system, power-point, etc. Then we will be the ones to clean up and get the church ready for service on Sundays.

I asked a few weeks back and they said they did not have anyone to coordinate them and they would be happy for us to do it. We already have a wedding in a couple of weeks and one good thing...it pays! Then we have another one in September.

Talking about church reminds me that this past Sunday I lead Praise and Worship. One reason the wife and I changed churches was because I reached a place at our previous church where I knew I would be until my death if I stayed there. I had voiced many times, to the right people, what I know God was calling me to. Music ministry such as choir director or music leader. (I always thought more of choir director) Year after year I stayed in the same place and saw no change. If there was ever a need in the music department at our previous church they would call someone new from the outside and bring them in. After MUCH prayer between myself and my wife, we decided that it was time to leave.

At our new church that we have been at since Feburary of this year we have really been used. There was a need in the music department as well as help with this and that. Our current music leader is also the youth pastor. He plays the keyboard during service. He was on vacation this week and therefore he asked me to lead praise and worship. NOW, I am learing to play "cord music" so I did not play the keyboard but we did have the guitar player and drummer so that worked. If anyone knows any info about how to catch on to playing cord music faster PLEASE let me know.

Leading P&W this past Sunday was honestly a "dream come true." It was a little rough but the presence of the Lord was there. I know that music is my calling. I am not the bestest singer in the world but I can carry a tune or two in a bucket. Below is a dream that I had a couple of years back that let me know that I would and will have music as part of my life. Maybe not full time at a church because I know that lots of churches cannot pay a full time music leader, but it will be part of my life and I am seeing it come to pass more and more every Sunday. The dream is very simple and short. The dream is this:

"I saw the backside of my body with my arms raised out on each side as if directing a choir and lost in worship"

The interpretation:

I had been praying for a while about God's calling on my life and what it is he was wanting me to do. During the month of September, a couple of years ago, we were having a "choir retreat" at our previous church. It was the morning of our last meeting that I had the dream. After the meeting the guy that came in to lead our retreat was talking about when he started doing what he was doing and how he knew that we would know that what we were doing was what we were called to do. He said, and I quote, "Sometimes God will show you the end result to let you know that all that you have to go through to get there will be worth it all."

After he said that I automatically thought back to that morning, right before I woke up, and the dream that I had.

Again, I am starting to see all this come to pass. It may be a few more years but I know that "God does not call the qualified...He qualifies the called."

He is calling each of us...What is he calling you to...What is that "thing" that you have been putting off that will lead you to what he is calling you to? What is that "thing" you need to let go of so you can press toward what he is calling you to? I had to let go of the church I previously went to and move toward a place where my talents and abilities can be used and where there is a need. People and things can hinder what God is calling you to. In prayer, ask God, who is ready to give you an answer to anything, what it is that you need to do.

Thank you Father for your loving kindnesses that are new EVERY morning and for hearing our hearts.

Bed And Breakfast - One Year Anniversary!

My Friend Brandon

Brandon and I grew up together. He and his wife and his mom and dad were also in the Mountains so we meet up for lunch one day.
