Whirl Wind

So, as already stated and shown in the papers...I WON!!!

It was by two votes but here is what I know: Two votes is two votes and winning by only two votes keeps me humble because it could have easily been the other way around!

Now that I have won you would think that I and everyone else can breathe a big sigh of relief, but we can't.

The following link tells a glimps of what is going on:
http://www.al.com/birminghamnews/stories/index.ssf?/base/news/1219911348110670.xml&coll=2

More information on this matter is the following:

For the past 13yrs the City has not been submitting the correct annexations and census reports to the Justice Department. Because of this, if nothing is resolved then come Novemember 1st, the current council and mayor will continue on with business as usual; like the article says.

All in all I am not stressing over anything. I got out there and ran a campaigne and won the voters favor. I know our City Attorney is working hard at getting the Justice Department to reconsider and approve everything.

Once again Ladies and Gentlemen this is why I wanted to sit on the Council was to fix things such as this. Because this matter has been happening for 13yrs.

I am SO glad it is a 3 day weekend! I decided not to go to Florida because I am wore-out and want to stay around the house this weekend. Also, the wife has a tournament this weekend and I have yet to see them play since I have been so busy so I will also be taking some time to go and support her. Yea, I know, how sweet!!! Just kidding!!!

Baby "Jeneric" Update

As promised, here is the update on "Jeneric".

The appointment was at 8am this morning and Jennifer called me at 8:30 telling me she was leaving the parking deck.

Everything is fine with the Baby. YEA!!!!!!!! The doctor did say though that Jennifer is border line Anemic. The solution to this problem is Jennifer needs to get MORE Iron put into her system. She has been on the prenatal vitamins from the beginning, but obviously she needs more.

The doctor told her to eat more red meats and fruits and veggies with iron in them. Of course since being pregnant Jennifer has avoided red meats because the thought of them made her gag! If this doesn't help by the next appointment they will put her on a supplement to give her what she needs. I have a feeling since Jennifer is a picky eater that they will just have to go ahead and put her on a supplement. (I hope that Jeneric is not this picky:)

I only spoke with her for a minute so I am not sure when our next appointment is but I know they scheduled one and I will let you know when it is. This should be the appointment where we find out if it is a boy or girl as long as Jeneric is cooperating.

Thank you for your prayers and for sharing this with us. I will keep you updated! And if I can remember later this evening we will do a "belly shot" and post it.

ELECTION DAY!!!

Well, we have made it to Election Day! I have checked my list of things that needed to be done by today and I checked it again.

I had some friends help me last night call people on my voters list just to send out one more reminder!

I will be going to vote on my lunch today. I cannot say who I am voting for but I am sure you have a pretty good idea?

I know we need the rain but I do wish that it stays calm today so people will get out and vote. Rain does hinder people from wanting to get out.

Not much to say...too much running through my mind. I need to get to work now. The wife is on her way to her 8am "jeneric" appointment. Good news about the wife, her fever broke last night and she is feeling much better this morning. Thank you for your prayers for her and for your prayers for the Election today.

Stay tuned to the results tomorrow. I did find out that it will probably be as early as 8pm that we get the results!!!

So, hopefully the next time that I write to you, I will be writing as Bombadays-City Council-District 2.

The Day Before Tomorrow!

-
So...Tomorrow is the day...Election Day that is!!!

As you can imagine the City is covered in campaign signs...to the point of overkill; especially from the Mayoral candidates. I have a lot out there myself but not all in one place. If I can remember I will try and take a picture of the signs before tomorrow is over.

I will be working tomorrow as there is nothing else I can do at that point. When you are going to vote you are either going before work, during lunch, or after work on the way home and you do not want to be bothered and you have your mind made up. Since council also run for a District I would have to stop and ask you what district you are in, etc. Plus, we can only campaign 30 feet from the entrance and that would be the street.

Still keep Jennifer in your prayers. She is still sick and needs to overcome this. She has a "jeneric" doctor's appointment tomorrow to see how things are moving along, which we know that they are moving along great!

Again...

-
It seems that we have made it to another Friday. I just got back from lunch and it was nice outside. I could stand it being about 7 degrees cooler. I love the Autumn weather and I can feel the begining of it when I am outside.

This weekend is going to be busy. I will be helping my brother and his wife move and then spending some time with my parents. Jennifer has a volleyball tournament so it will probably be Sunday before I see her. Keep her in your prayers because she woke up this morning with a sore throat. She said some kids in her classes are sick. Pray for her healing. I don't want her sick and especially since she is pregnant. The next doctors appointment for Jeneric is Tuesday.

Tuesday is Election day. Keep that in your prayers as well. I'm hoping to WIN!!!

Does anyone in the local area like to play golf or know people who do? The Chamber is having their annual golf tournament on Mon. Sept. 22 and we are looking for some more teams to sign up. There will also be a Silent Auction on Sat. Sept. 20th that everyone is invited to. $5.00 at the door! All money raised for Silent Auction goes to the scholarship fund that the Chamber has where we present a scholarship to a deserving High School graduate.

Let me know if you want more info about the Golf tournament.

Florida Trip?

--
I been thinking this morning that I may want to take a quick trip to Florida to visit my grandparents and other family during the Labor Day weekend? If the wife is available of course she will go with me.

Does a certain cousin want us to stop by on that Friday afternoon and spend the night and maybe go out to dinner? Are you going to be home? We could possibly stay Saturday night at well.

At this moment it is "up in the air" but I know after next Tuesday I will want to get away from it all for a few days. (just to take a break!)

Monday Humor...

--
Hillbilly Mirror

After living in the remote wilderness of Danville , VA all his life, an old
hillbilly decided it was time to visit the big city.

In one of the stores he picks up a mirror and looks in it.

Not ever having seen one before, he remarked at the image staring back at
him, 'How about that! Here's a picture of my daddy.'

He bought the mirror thinking it was a picture of his daddy, but on the
way home he remembered his wife didn't like his father, so he hung it in
the barn, and every morning before leaving for the fields, he would go
there and look at it.

His wife began to get suspicious of these many trips to the barn.

One day after her husband left, she searched the barn and found the
mirror.

As she looked into the glass, she fumed,

'So that's the ugly woman he's runnin' around with.

Campaign Schedule Update...

-
Well, it seems that I only have at most 5 more houses to go and see and then I am finished campaigning.

I hit the road yesterday after work and knocked on doors until 8pm. There was one neighborhood that I thought was going to take some "reading the map" understanding but it went better than I thought. I went to City Hall and looked at the HUGH map they had there to get better clarity.

Like I said, about 5 more houses to go and then I am finished. All I, and if you would also, can do is pray. The Lord knows the desire of my heart and He knows how much work I put into this. I really feel that I have had great response but I need the people to get out and vote on the 26th. Thank you for your prayers during this.

On another note, everything in "jeneric" world is moving right along. The next appointment is on the 26th, election day. Hopefully they will schedule 4 more weeks after that so we can return to see if "jeneric" is a jennifer or eric???!!!

Quote of the day:

We could certainly slow the aging process down if it had to work its way through Congress. -- Will Rogers

Before & After...

The color is a rustic red. I didn't paint the inside because the computer and everything else will be sitting inside and it would possibly scratch the paint off over time and plus the doors will be kept shut when not in use. (the whole purpose of purchasing this!)

1 down 1 to go...

I had one of my Political Election forums today. It was hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. I do currently serve as President for the Chamber but I had one of my Board Members run the luncheon so I could come "just" as a candidate for council.

I feel that it went really well. We each had 2 minutes to state our platform. I believe I had atleast 15 seconds left.

Our next Forum will be on the 19th at the High School. That one will also be 2 minutes long for each city council candidate with the mayor candidates getting a little more time.

I really hope the citizens of Calera come out to educate themselves on each candidate.

Well, it's quiting time here at the office. It is raining outside so I will not be campaigning, but that doesn't mean there is nothing to do.

5:30am comes TOO early...

Friday after work I went and picked up the computer Armour. Along with that, I helped a friend with a mattress set she bought. I wish I had a camera because since we have an explorer suv and not a truck, even though I call it my truck, we had to tie the mattresses to the top of the explorer. TOO FUNNY!!! I felt like the biggest redneck but hey, you do what you have to do.

Saturday I was up at 5:30am to get ready for my bike ride. It felt so good to get out in the nice cool weather of 60 degrees. After my bike ride I got home, freshened up and went campaigning. I meet my second RUDE person while knocking on doors. Oh well though, they are out there so what are you going to do?

After campaigning I washed the cars, since they haven't seen soap in who knows how long? Then the wife and I went to a 5 year old birthday party. There were kids everywhere or all ages. I really can't wait until our "jeneric" gets here. It was just too cute to see all the kids with their daddy's playing around in the pool, etc.

Sunday afternoon I painted the armour. Don't worry, I remembered to take pictures so I will post them tomorrow if I remember to download them?! It looks really good. I decided to go with another color than black. It is a rustic/red color. It was also only five bucks because it was an oop's paint from the paint store.

5:30, on Monday morning, comes TOO early!

Working my way...

It has been a slow week on the Campaign Trail. I got out Monday door to door, Tuesday I went to a Police National Night Out to assist in anyway I could and plus to have my face out there. After work on Wednesday I had a meeting to discuss things about my campaign and then it was church. Yesterday it was raining after work and then at 6pm I had my Chamber meeting.

This afternoon I have to go pick up an armor computer desk that we bought. We got it at the thrift store for only $22.00. It needs to be painted. We will be painting it black. We decided, I think, to make the furniture in the babies room black and let the comforter, etc. be the colors; that way everything will really "pop" too. Since the computer will be staying in that room it needs to be black also, maybe, I'm still thinking!!! I just might want it to be some kind of accent color?!? I will take a before and after shot so you can see the difference. The current computer desk we have does not have any room on it and plus the wife can use it in her classroom.

If I do not hit the campaign trail this afternoon I will definately be out there tomorrow after, hopefully, a morning bike ride. Did you know the high in the morning is 60-65 degrees! Come on Autumn!!! I only have a few more neighborhoods to cover so I am doing pretty good. Still keep the elections in your prayers for me. I am out there to win and get in City Hall and work to improve the city.

Saturday afternoon/evenish is a birthday party and Sunday is church. Have a great weekend!

Political Forum

I have been working on the questions for the Political Forum that will be taking place for our City on Aug. 19th - 6:30pm at the new High School.

The candidates for City Council will only have one question to ask and you can take up to two minutes to answer. If your answer does not last two minutes long you will have time to elaborate on another question of your choice from another set.

So, I have been working on my response. Two minutes does not seem like a lot until you are standing in front of a crowd of people who are there to hear your answer.

Check your coworker...

Baby...

Jennifer and I were talking last night about how big the baby currently is. Being right at 2 inches, this picture is a great example.

Can't worry about it...

Okay! So, the previous post was about the "Monthly" messing up my ad, something I paid for. Thank you for your comments. I agree that decisions we make for anything in our life will effect other things. (even with voting) As I mentioned, it cannot be corrected before the elections but here is my conclusion:

I have worked hard during this campaign and am still working hard. Including yesterday where I spent 4hrs. and 15min. out campaigning. God knows the desires of my heart, He knows EVERYTHING!!! I am getting great responses from the people I am meeting and as long as they get out and vote, then by Gods mighty power and plan I will become City Councilman for District 2.

Satan knows this and he wants to do everything to discourage me, but I cannot allow it to happen. I have come too far to turn back now and I know what I have done since campaigning has not been done in vain.

This morning while getting ready for work Joyce Meyer was on and she was talking about fear sneaking in and getting our minds away from the Peace of God. So NO more! I will not allow satan to steal my peace and I hope that you do not either!

I wil continue getting out and meeting the people, proving to them that I am the man for the job, and giving them the correct information about me with what I hand to them at their door and let them see the Love of Christ through me.

So, will I win the elections on Aug. 26th? I am not telepathic, but one thing I know, "God knows everything!" He knows I want to win and I believe that his Will will be done.

Remember, satan has come to kill, steal, and destroy but God has come to give life, and give it MORE Abunduntly!!! What was posted is false information, but the truth will be shown.

Poll Question:

I am conducting a Poll. Here is my question. Please answer by leaving a comment.

Question: Would you vote or not vote for someone just because of their religion?

The reason why I ask is because I attend Christ Chruch. (this is pentacostal). For the monthly newsletter that is distributed here I put "Christ Church" only but they printed Church of Christ. Even though, while campaigning door to door, the info I hand to you has Christ Chruch.

So, would you base your vote on what religion someone is?
