Surprised...I know!

It is Wednesday of my vacation here in NY!

Since we landed at 10:30am Saturday morning we have not stopped moving. Here you walk fast, drive fast, eat fast, sleep fast, etc. There has only been a little bit of sleep going on.

Once we got the rental car we stopped by a pizza place in Brooklyn down the road from the apartment and I have my first REAL NY pizza. It really was good. From there we came to the apartment, dropped off the luggage and headed downtown Brooklyn. We parked and walked forever. Seeing this and that and taking pictures of this and that. (pictures to follow when I return). We also made it to Chinatown on our first night.

On Sunday we went to one church that started at 8am and then to Brooklyn Tabernacle or as they call it here...BT. For those who did not know I have been listening to BT choir forever. The friend I came to NY with use to attend that church and sing in the choir so visiting the church is one of our main reasons for coming here.

After church we did some more sight seeing. (pictures to follow).

Monday and Tuesday we have been doing the same...lots of running around and little sleep. I can go into lots of details about or trip but I don't want to at this time but you know, I could get use to NY. It is a fast pace world and I know I can fit in just right. I already had to get smart with a lady hotdog vendor. (Mrs. Smarty Pants!)
Tonight we are going to BT choir practice. A group of 300 people. I can't wait. To actually practice with a group that I have been listening to forever, though some people have come and gone, it will still be a blessing to me to be able to practice with them.

I will probably not type again until I get back to Alabama. Oh yea, and by the way...I was on American Idol today. Got the DVD and everything from my performance.

Until then...

New York! New York!

A couple of songs for the road:

Regards to Broadway
Did you ever see two yankees part upon a foreign shore,
When the good ship's just about to start For old New York once more?
With tear-dimmed eye they say goodbye They're friends without a doubt
When the man on the pier shouts, "Let them clear!" as the ship strikes out

"Give my regards to Broadway, Remember me to Herald Square
Tell all the gang at Forty-second Street, That I will soon be there
Whisper of how I'm yearning, To mingle with the old-time throng
Give my regards to old Broadway, And say that I'll be there ere long

Start Spreading The News
Start spreading the news, I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it New York, New York
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it In old New York
If I can make it there I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York If I can make it there I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will return soon and will have pictures to share. If I make it big I will not forget you "little" people. lol

Tuesday

My massage Friday was REALLY NICE! I have to say though that an hour passed by too quickly. They also offer the Candle "earwax remover" thing. I have heard about that and I think I want to try that. They say that it helps with, of course the removal of inner earwax, but also drains the sinus, which makes sense since the ear, nose and throat are all connected.

On Saturday others from work and myself were here doing some landscapping outside. We started at 9am and was finished by 12:30, just before the rain started. We planted 100 plants. It looks really good. So good, that the boss wants to continue all the way to the road. That would be about another 700 plants, if he does the same kind.

Not too long now and I will be flying to New York. I am trying not to rush this week because when I leave Saturday morning it will be another 7 days until I see my bride. (I am going to miss you Baby!!!) Aaaaaahhhhhhh!!! I know! I know!. (just kidding)

I have a suitcase opened on the guest bed and a list of things that I need. As I think about other things I put it in the suitcase. I am having to take both summer, fall, and winter. This week NY is getting a lot of rain but by Saturday their high the following next week is in the 60's. A little cloudy with some rain. Note to self: pack umbrella.

Again, I have a 1 GB memory card for the camera and it holds 401 pictures. (more than enough) When I get back I will down load them and start posting them on the blog. I need pictures on this one anyways.

Until later.

Friday

Last Friday we were off from work because it was Good Friday. Of course, I did work at my vice president's house to get a little bit more cash for my trip to NYC. Which by the way I leave for in 8 days. (April 21st). I'm getting more and more excited. I better rest up next week because there ain't goin be no sleepin while we are there. Don't worry, I will try to keep my Southern accent to a minimum. (yea right!)

This afternoon I am getting my first Professional Massage Ever. About a month ago I won a $50 gift certificate from a radio station and to get a full hours worth of "Deep Tissue Massage" all I have to do is add $10 to it. ($1.00 per minute basicly). I am sure I will enjoy it. I will let you know how it went.

This afternoon at work is going by slooooooooooooooooooooooowlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! What to do what to do?!

Tomorrow some of us here at work has volunteered to come and plant shrubbery around the building but now we have 100% chance of rain so I doubt that is going to happen. If it doesn't happen I wouldn't mind loafing around the house for the day; especially after I get a massage. (don't want to go getting all tensed up again))

Last night I finally put some plastic walmart bags on the mirrors fo the car. As funny as it has been to watch, we have had these birds, or one bird I think, that will sit on the side of the window and look at their reflection in the mirror. Then they will jump up on the mirror and hang down and look at their reflection. Then jump back down and flap and peck at the mirror. Well it was cute to watch a few times but I have seen where they or it has scratched the mirrors and I can't continue to let that happen. So, plastic bags it is. What is also funny is a house that we pass on the way to church has two shoe-size boxes covering their mirrors. (they must have the same problem.) But this house is about 15miles from us so it has to be another bird but probably the same species.

Well, two hours of work left to go. I hate watching the clock but today it is like that.

I made it!!!

Live to Ride...Ride to Live...

This past Saturday, I was just riding to my car.

I rode 62miles, on my bike, in a Cancer Charity ride. Half way through it all I was thinking was, "Why couldn't I have just donated my money and helped serve the lunch or something." "Why oh Why must I have rode." "I must be crazy!"

When all was said and done including taking pain killers, a nap, a 1 1/2hour soak in the tub, I was glad that I did it. I enjoying riding even if I second guess myself once I am out there.

The thing that made it hard was the two mountains, not hills, these puppies were mountains, that we had to climb. (feet don't fail me now!) I kept saying, "I think I can, I think I can". One mountain was 3 miles upward. Being able to go down the other side made it worth it though.

It wasn't a race so you could go at your own pace. It took me about 5hrs. (they had it timed for 4...who are they kidding; I did good to get it in at 5hrs.) If it wasn't for the mountains I could have made it in 4.) There was wind also pushing against you at times and a high of 44 degrees but...I MADE IT!!! and I would do it again.

HAPPY EASTER!

I hope that each one of you have a wonderful Easter.

Remember this weekend that weeping may endure for a night; the death of Christ dying for our sins, but JOY comes in the morning; the Resurrection of Christ Jesus, life eternal with him.

Thank you Father!

Face Lift

Face Lifts

A woman decides to have a facelift for her 50th birthday. She spends $15,000 and feels pretty good about the results. On her way home, she stops at a news stand to buy a newspaper. Before leaving, she says to the clerk, "I hope you don't mind my asking, but how old do you think I am?""About 32," is the reply."Nope! I'm exactly 50," the woman says happily.

A little while later she goes into McDonald's and asks the counter girl the very same question. The girl replies, "I'd guess about 29. "The woman replies with a big smile, "Nope, I'm 50.

"Now she's feeling really good about herself. She stops in a drug store on her way down the street. She goes up to the counter to get some mints and asks the clerk this burning question. The clerk responds, "Oh, I'd say 30. "Again she proudly responds, "I'm 50, but thank you!"

While waiting for the bus to go home, she asks an old man waiting next to her the same question. He replies, "Lady, I'm 78 and my eyesight is going. Although, when I was young, there was a sure-fire way to tell how old a woman was. It sounds very forward, but it requires you to let me put my hands under your bra. Then, and only then can I tell you EXACTLY how old you are."

They wait in silence on the empty street until her curiosity gets the best of her. She finally blurts out, "What the hell, go ahead." He slips both of his hands under her blouse and begins to feel around very slowly and carefully. He bounces and weighs each breast and he gently pinches each nipple. He pushes her breasts together and rubs them against each other. After a couple of minutes of this, she says, "Okay, okay...How old am I?" He completes one last squeeze of her breasts, removes his hands, and says, "Madam, you are 50". Stunned and amazed, the woman says, "That was incredible, how could you tell?"The old man says, "Promise you won't get mad?""I promise I won't." she says. I was behind you in the line at McDonald's."

Weekend

Did we just have a weekend? Sometimes I can't tell. I stay so busy trying to catch up on things on the two days that I am off I sometimes wonder if I was off at all?

We closed out the end of the year here at work and I was able to make it out the door at my regular time. (3:30pm.)

Saturday morning I got to sleep in a little. Then I headed over to church and helped judge the Teen Challenge Compitition. For the music there was myself, another guy, and a girl. (aka...Randy, Paula, Simon) Can you guess who I was??? If you guessed Simon, you are WRONG! Truth is, we didn't judge them verbally, we had tally sheets for each person. All in all is was good and I really enjoyed doing it.

After that I headed over to the gym where Jennifer was coaching and watched the team for about 4 hours, then headed to wally-world, then back to the church for drama practice. Then it was home.

Sunday morning we did our drama, titled Ester, Easter, and Eternity. It was a "Comical" drama, but based on the book of Ester in the Bible. I liked that it was funny because it let unbelievers know that you can still have fun being a Christian and everything is not serious. You can still keep your sense of humor.

After church it was to the inlaws, then home to rest, go pick the wife up, then back home for the evening.

I was planning on getting a ride in this past Saturday but then I was asked to judge the Teen Challenge. Then I tried to plan it for yesterday but the rain delayed that. (which we needed) Maybe this Saturday???
