It seems that we have made it to Friday. It has been a pretty busy week at the office. A girl that I work with was moved to customer service so we have been short one person in my department for about 1 1/2wks. On top of that we closed out the end of our year here at work and this week has been the first of the new so that adds to the HECTICNESS and I have been filling in for our Purchase Manager while he has been on vacation!!! But, I survived. I like being busy at work but I also like to have a moment or two to breath.
You know one thing that has been bugging me is the Lack of Commitment people have. People say they are going to do something and do not do it. People join a "voluntary" group knowing that they are making a commitment to something for an X amount of time and have to come to X amount of things but everytime they do not show up and do not volunteer for anything. It's like they just want their name associated with the group.
This goes for the same for groups at church. If you are going to join the band, praise team, choir, childrens ministry, etc., please join with the intent of giving some of your time to that group. Please join with the "RIGHT" motives as well and not just to have your name assosciated with it. If you cannot attend the little bit of meetings, practices, etc that are required of you for that group then you need to rethink your involvment.
And one more thing. If you tell somebody you are going to do something...DO IT!!! Do not leave people in waiting as if they have all eternity to wait for you. They asked you for a reason, you agreed to do it, so do it. And if you have planned to meet at 5pm for someone DO NOT show up late!!! This is disrespetful. I have waited and waited up to an hour after the alotted time for someone to show up. It's NOT funny and there is NO excuse in the world that could be given that would make up for it. (other than an accident or your death!) If you are going to be late call the other party and let them know so they are not rushing to get there to be on time.
I am on a few committee's and in some groups and these are things that I have been seeing around me for a couple of months now. You get about 10-15 people involved and then 5 people end up doing all the work.
Eccelesiates 5:2 says "Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God." Plainly put, this is saying that God takes what you say as a contract. Do not be quick to agree to something that you know you cannot do because of lack of time or other commitments. Remember the days when people's words meant something? When they said that they would do something they did it. Now we have lawsuits and fights amoung brothers and sisters because of lack of committment.
Okay, I am finished preaching!
