1st Day of Spring
Fall is one of my favorite months but I also like spring. Everything blooming after the winter and the fresh air blowing through the house because the windows are open. Tomorrow I will be taking advantage of the wonderful weekend we will be having.
I need to rake up some leaves that were washed into the yard from a rain-storm(flood) that happened a couple of weekends ago. After that I think I am going to run down to the local home store that has flowers, etc and pick some things out to plant at the front porch. Everything right now is dead. There is a big nursery about 20 minutes away; I may ride there and see what they have.
I enjoy getting outside; very therapeutic for me. I think I am going to wait a couple more weekends though before I give the yard it's first cutting.
Hope you are able to get outside and enjoy the weather! Take time to relax and thank God for his many wonderful blessings!!!

Appointment Set
We have a picture appointment set for Corban this Friday. He still has some dry skin on his face but that is not what I am concerned about for the pictures. His "baby acne" has come in and when one goes away a few more come up.
We want to get his picture taken but I don't want the acne to be there. Oh, I hope it leaves his face by Friday. Here is a pic of the little man after his first bath last week:
Jennifer down loaded some recent pics so I will get her to send them to me so I can post some more. Today, Corban is 3 weeks and 4 days old.

Results of Sleep Deprevation...
This happened the First Monday Corban was home and we were taking him to see his Doctor. It is my mother-in-laws car. While backing out of the driveway I started cutting back at my normal spot forgetting that she was parked there.
As you can see, the explorer is nothing compaired to her car. No one was hurt though!

Aggravation!
So, last night we were giving Corban his "official" first bath. Up until now he has been wiped down with baby wipes and cloths that turn soapy when put under water. Any who, I tell Jennifer to get the Video camera so we can record and she turns it on and it tells her...Disk Error; Hit restart to save disk.
Well, needless to say, we didn't get it recorded but we did get pics with the camera.
On the discs that I bought for the camera you have to "finalize" the disk before it will play in a dvd player. Well, it won't "finalize" but will play back on the camcorder. Now, the reason I have aggravation about this is that it is the same disk that we started recording on when we got to the hospital on the 19th.
I am glad though that it plays back on the camcorder.
Note to self: Be sure to purchase re-writable discs next time!!! (I don't think they have to be finalized!)
Oh, and Corban did GREAT with his bath. Didn't cry one time. That's my Boy!!!

Mr. Corban
Today at 10:06am Corban will be 2 weeks old.
Things about Corban:
-A Joy
-Very alert
-Great head control since he was born
-Loves to eat and falls asleep while eating, wakes back up and continues again
-Sleeps 2 1/2 to 3 hours
-Doesn't mind a diaper change as long as he has eaten first
-Staying awake more and loves for his Daddy to hold him and talk to him
-Is loosing the "glassy look" from his eyes and starting to see who you are
-Loves his little frog mobile on his crib
-Still a kicker like he was in the womb
-After a week of being bundled up while sleeping, started pulling his arms out and lays them on each side of his head; like he is praising Jesus!
-Will take his passy, but spit it out with force if/when he is done with it
-Goes back for his 2week appointment today

Multi-tasking...
Between the blog and facebook and email. Keeping everyone up-to-date!
All is good. Corban will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and he goes back for his two week appointment. We are going to start tomorrow evening with trying to keep him awake until about 9pm,give him a bath, feed him and then put him to bed. We are going to see if this helps him sleep longer?
Any suggestions?

Justice Department to decide on Calera voting districts Shelby County Reporter
Published Tuesday, March 3, 2009
CALERA — The U.S. Justice Department will decide whether to approve Calera’s new voting districts on or before March 24, said City Attorney Frank “Butch” Ellis.
If the districts are approved, Mayor-elect Jon Graham and newly elected council members will assume office seven months after winning their respective elections, Ellis told city leaders during a council work session on Monday.
Last October, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the city, alleging Calera’s voting districts violate a section of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The Justice Department maintains the voting districts eliminate the city’s only majority-minority district.
Ellis has provided Justice Department officials with the city’s demographic data since the lawsuit was filed. Ellis is hopeful that the Justice Department will rule in the city’s favor.
“I’m optimistic that we’ll get a favorable hearing. They’ve asked questions and we’ve supplied answers,” he said.
This has been a long time coming. Everyone be praying that they approve this and that they do not prolong the answer any further! I am ready to move forward!!!
